How many magazines can I borrow at a time?

Students can borrow 1 item for 3 days whereas Academic and Administration Staff can borrow 2 items for 7 days.

Can I borrow books from another Sunway campus?

If the item is not available in Sunway JB Library, users can request it through Inter Library Loan (ILL). However, this is only applicable to Academic Staff.

  1. Academic Staff  is required to fill in the Document Delivery Form and submit it to the Library staff.
  2. If the item is available, the user will receive the book within 10 working days.
  3. The item can only be borrowed for one month and renewed once.

Note: User must return the item to the Library one week prior to the due date.

Can I borrow from the Reserve Collection?

Yes, you can. However, loan eligibility differs depending on the type of user. Click here for more information.

Where can I return the borrowed books?

You should return the book at the Library counter before or on the due date.

How can I borrow/check out books from the Library?

  1. Bring the book to Library counter at the Ground Floor.
  2. Pass the book to the staff at the counter and scan your Student card.
  3. The staff will proceed with borrow/check out procedures.
  4. Upon completing the procedures, please check the due date.

Note: Users will receive an email reminder if the item is due and/or overdue. Users are allowed renewal up to 5 times.

What is the duration and number of books a student may borrow from the Open Shelf Collection?

Loan eligibility is different depending on the type of users and type of item. Student can borrow 3 items for one week from Open Shelf Collection. Click here for more information.
Note: Users will receive an email reminder if the item is due and/or overdue. Users are allowed renewal up to 5 times.

How can I check if I have borrowed any items from Library?

Please log in to the Library ‘My Account’ to see the library account details. User can login through Library website to check.

How do I pay my fines?

  1. Obtain the payment slip from Library staff at the counter
  2. Pay the fine at the Financial Services

How can I renew my book?

Library website:

  1. Access My Account.
  2. Enter your User ID and Password to login.
    Note:
    i). Your user ID is your Student ID / Staff Library ID.
    ii). Default Password is 1234 (you are encouraged to change your password after the first log-in).
    iii). Click Login to proceed.
  3. Go to ‘My Account’ and click ‘Renew'.
  4. Choose the item you want to renew and click ‘Renew Selected item'.
  5. If the item has been successfully renewed, the new due date will be displayed.
    Note: Don’t forget to take note of the new due date.

 

How do I 'Place Hold' or reserve a book?

Reservation or 'Place Hold' can be made at the Library Catalogue. Books in the library can be reserved online by users if all copies have been loaned out as shown in Location note e.g.  Due: Date. Click here for more details.

 

Library website:

  1. Click on the Place Hold button.
  2. Enter your Library User ID and PIN.
  3. Click on Place Hold.
  4. Click OK to close the screen.

 

Note: Users will be notified to collect the ‘Place Hold’ book within 3 days from the day the book is returned.

How many times can I renew my book?

Users can renew their book 5 times. Please renew the book before or on the due date. 

What is the fine for an overdue book?

Overdue fine depends on the type of items. Click here for more details.

Why am I unable to renew my book?

Users will not able to renew a book if:

  1. The book has been reserved or place hold by another user.
  2. Users have reached the maximum renewals of 5 times.
  3. Library account has been blocked (e.g. accumulated fine of more than RM20)

Why am I unable to reserve or 'Place Hold' a book?

Users will not able to reserve or 'Place Hold' book if:

  1. There is still an available copy in the Library.
  2. Library account has been blocked (e.g. accumulated fine of more than RM20).

How can I borrow the AV materials?

  1. Borrowing and returning of AV materials and auxiliary equipment (e.g. headphone, remote control and etc.) should be done at the Library Counter.
  2. Users choose the DVD from AV Catalogue which is provided at the AV Corner or Library counter.
  3. Users must fill in the AV Equipment Loan.
  4. A valid Student ID must be left at the Library counter during the session.
  5. Library staff will provide the DVD and equipment.

Users may refer to the rules and regulations.

How many AV materials can I borrow?

Students can borrow 1 item for 4 hours whereas Academic Staff can borrow 5 items for 14 days and Administrative Staff can borrow 5 items for 7 days.
