#1 Currency
- How timely is the information?
- When was it written?
- Do you require current sources?
- If you require current sources, is the information up to date?
#2 Relevance
- Is the information appropriate for your topic and assignment?
- What types of sources does your assignment require?
- Does it cover the topic you are researching?
#3 Authority
- What is the source of the information?
- Who is the author?
- What are their credentials (Education, research expertise, employment experience)?
- Who is the publisher? (Academic or commercial)
- What are their value and goals?
#4 Accuracy
- How reliable is the information?
- Can you verify the facts with other sources?
- Has the information been reviewed or refereed?
#5 Purpose
- Why was the information published?
- Was it created to inform and educate? Or to state an opinion?
