English Conversation Group

English Conversation Group Workshop (ECG)

English Conversation Group Workshop (ECG) is organised by the Library to help students with their speaking skills. It is a 30-minute workshop designed to help students with their speaking proficiency of the English Language. The Library organises these workshops for students to enable them to improve their speaking skills in their pronunciation, grammar and general speaking skills. The topics that are discussed during the session are common everyday life topics such as books, a childhood memory, a historical place, holiday, a practical skill, festival, food, household appliances, sports, family and many other common topics. During the session, students are given a topic that they would have to discuss with their friends and the facilitator.

How can students benefit from ECG workshops?

There are many benefits to be gained from the ECG workshops. Some of the benefits that students can gain from this workshop is that:

  • They are able to use the time allocated to them during the session to further practice and improve their speaking skills.
  • They are able to learn new vocabulary used in everyday conversation and to be able to learn the correct sentence structure of phrases being pronounced and spoken in a grammatical order or sentence.
  • They can also benefit from the session by brainstorming for ideas with their peers with the help of facilitator on many different topics and current issues.
